Southeastern College’s Miami Lakes Area Campus Holds Summer Commencement Ceremony

West Palm Beach, FL – July 2015 – The faculty and staff at the Miami Lakes Area campus of Southeastern College (SEC) will celebrate the 2015 graduating class on Friday, July 17 at 7:00 p.m. at the Dade Christian School located at 6601 NW 167th Street in Miami Lakes. The keynote speaker for the graduates will be the Honorable Barbara Watson of the Florida House of Representatives.

The valedictorian for the class of 2015 is Alexandra Argaez, earning her Associate of Science in Surgical Technology. She is a certified Surgical Technologist and works for a plastic surgeon in Coral Gables and also serves on the Advisory Board for SEC Miami Lakes. During her time at SEC she was a leader in her class and assisted classmates in certification study sessions and was actively involved in community events. Mayumy Michel Fonseca who is married with one child and originally from Cuba, earned her diploma in Medical Assisting will be the salutatorian for this graduating class. She has secured a position as a Medical Assistant at the office of Dr. Michelle A. Morrison in Pembroke Pines thanks to, on her first attempt, passing the Registered Medical Assisting exam by the American Medical Technologist Association.

“We are very proud of all of our graduates and their accomplishments, both academically and professionally since most of our graduates have obtained the certification or licensure required in their field of study,” stated Julia Corona, Campus Vice President. “We’re equally excited to see the first graduates from the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program cross the stage at this commencement ceremony.”

Representative Barbara Watson, serving District 107, was sworn into office in 2011 and has had the pleasure of serving as a ranking member on the Rulemaking, Oversight & Repeal Subcommittee, a member of the Joint Administrative Procedures Committee, the Rules, Calendar & Ethics Committee, and the Transportation & Ports Subcommittee. Outside of her role in the Florida House of Representatives, she founded the largest black owned limousine business, Watson Antique and Classic Cars, which serves the southeast coast of Florida.
