Southeastern College’s (formerly Southeastern Institute) medical assisting program was recently named one of the top six programs in the Charlotte, N.C., area by Medical Assistant Advice, a website that provided in-depth information on the field of medical assisting. Southeastern took the No. 2 spot on the list of the Six Best Medical Assistant Programs in Charlotte, North Carolina, for 2020.

Southeastern College was the top-rated private college to earn the distinction. Southeastern’s Medical Assisting Diploma program earned high marks for its programmatic accreditation from the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and its goal of preparing graduates to sit for the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) examination and other certifications including the CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant).

“We are extremely pleased to be included on this list of the top medical assisting programs in the Charlotte area,” said Robert Keiser, Southeastern Institute’s Executive Director. “We strive to offer a superb academic program and rewarding experience to the next generation of allied health professionals.”

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts careers in medical assisting are expected to grow by 19 percent from 2019-2029. North Carolina remains one of the top performers in the nation in terms of job growth in the field of medical assisting. The state is expected to see a 5.3 percent growth in medical assisting careers by 2021.

To produce the list, Medical Assistant Advice ranked programs at public and private schools in the Charlotte metro area. Graduation rates and net price index combined for 40 percent of the ranking value. Additional factors considered included retention rate and number of students enrolled. View the full report here.
