ACEN Site Accreditation Announcement

Southeastern College – Miami Lakes, Branch Campus of the West Palm Beach Main Campus wishes to announce that it has been granted full accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) for the Nursing Associate of Science Degree program until 2023.

In 2009, SEC Miami Lakes applied for and was approved for an Associate of Science in Registered Nursing Bridge program and by 2010 the program obtained full approval from the Board of Nursing. The Nursing Unit meets the needs of the community in providing the Registered Nursing program. In 2015, the Florida Center for Nursing estimated that there were over 12,000 vacancies for Registered Nurses in the state, with the demand increasing over the next decade. The Associate of Science in Nursing program was initially designed as a bridge program for those LPNs who desired to advance their education.

There was also a need for those who wished to enter the nursing profession as Registered Nurses, without prior licensure or certification, and in 2013 the program added a NUR1023C Fundamentals of Nursing course for those students who did not have a current, valid, unrestricted Florida LPN license.
